But be warned, the gadget that you hold next to your head for potentially several hours a day might turn out to be your worst enemy. But, is the saving really worth risking coma or even death?  DVD!Sure, it may seem cool that you can grab a pirate copy of pretty much any movie that's in the cinema right now from that bloke down the pub, but do you know the human cost behind DVD piracy? It's not just the multi billion dollar film industry that is the victim of this crime, it's the labour used to produce the copies. Many Chinese people are unwillingly smuggled into the country, forced to live and work in horrendous conditions and denied their fundamental human rights.  Counterfeit pesticidesIt isn't right to be applying untested and highly toxic substances to your own food source, however in Ghana, they have highlighted this as a massive problem. The initial price of the pesticides may lure untrained farmers into buying them, but the knock-on effects are perilous. People should be safe in the knowledge that the food they eat has been grown the right way and workers in the farming industry should not be in danger of harmful effects from counterfeit pesticides. |
